Slip clutches

In brief

 

Slip clutches are designed as system protection in the case of an overload. The limiter acts as a fuse, Most of the time, it's a fuse which can be reset as often as required.

 

Once the pre-set torque level has been reached, the clutch will slip and there will be no further transmission of power until the torque level drops below its pre-set limit.

 

The difference between the various slip clutches is the maximum permissible torque for each coupling. Attention should be paid to the torque range of each clutch.

 

Here are the slip clutches sold by HPC, in increasing order of power (of transmissible torque): Vari-Tork, SAS and PAS and Syntex.
