Details on this peculiarity concern only T2.5 pulleys, having less than 23 teeth.

 

On these components, the shoulder is effectively larger than the teeth, and serves a double purpose, both as hub and flange. Because of the small size of the pulleys, the hub is crimped to replace the flange.
