2. Can you custom-make parts?

HPC's product line is presented in a catalogue with around 35,000 parts as standard. Nevertheless, they can be easily modified, or even custom-made from a design or model, to fill a particular need.

3. Can you manufacture a gear from a worn, damaged or broken gear?

Yes, it's a service we are frequently called upon to provide.

In the case of a broken or damaged gear, send it to us. Our technicians will then be able to determine the dimenensions. For helical gears it is always preferable to send us both wheels at the same time: certain information can then be,gained from either one or the other component, this is very important with worm and wheel systems.

4. Is is possible to make modifications to gear wheels?

HPC has a catalogue with numerous standard wheels, with pre-defined dimensions. However, certain dimensions can be modified in order to adapt a part to your system. The most common modifications are reboring or the addition of a keyway, pinhole or threaded hole. Thermal processing is also possible. HPC can, on request, modify its standard range to adapt them to your needs.

5. There are two PAs 14°30' and 20° for pinions. Why ? Which angle is best for which type of pinion ?

Actually, there are two PAs in existence. The angle of 14°30' was widely used in the past, but nowadays is a lot less common. It is sometimes used for Imperial componants. The angle of 20° has become much more commonplace. It's therefore impossible to say if one or the other is better, however it is clear that the 20° PA is used much more often for metric modules.
